A Powerful Voice in a Child’s Life

Ocmulgee CASA, Inc. serves the dependent children of the eight-county Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit. CASA volunteers are assigned to an abuse or neglect case by a judge. They conduct thorough research on the background of the case, reviewing documents, interviewing everyone involved, including the child. They make reports to the court, recommending what they believe is best for the child, providing the judge with information that will help him in making an informed decision. CASAs can change an abused child’s life.

Our Mission

Ocmulgee CASA is organized and shall be operated as a nonprofit corporation formed under the laws of the State of Georgia solely for charitable and education purposes with the mission to recruit, train, manage and support volunteers to act as the Court Appointed Special Advocate (“CASA”) for neglected, abused, deprived, or otherwise dependent children of the Ocmulgee Circuit; to represent the best interests of these children in court proceedings; and to follow these children’s cases until they achieve permanency or reach majority. The purpose of Ocmulgee CASA, Inc. is to provide the voice for children in court and to present the best interest of the child before the court, the social service system, and the community service providers, thus assuring the child’s right to an appropriate placement and a permanent home for children residing in the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit.
